Technical Fellow - Mobility

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Pratt Miller Technical Fellowship program is a highly selective technical leadership career path at Pratt Miller. The role of the engineers and technologists serving as Technical Fellow is to work with the Business Unit Leadership in setting the technical direction for company, to transfer knowledgebase and best practices to functional and project engineering teams, and to help solve challenging project and product needs. The Technical Fellow role is the top level in the technical leadership path.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly assist the Mobility team in developing and achieving Pratt & Miller Technology Roadmap initiatives to maintain Pratt & Miller’s technical competitive advantage in the market – participating in Technology Steering Team, Technology Council, and assist with regular updates to annual tech strategy.
  • Coordinate with leaders of Motorsports and Defense technology to align and prioritize efforts to support the Pratt and Miller corporate strategy and overarching technology pathways.
  • Exercise substantial initiative/judgement in work methods and interpreting goals to anticipate and capitalize on developing opportunity and gaps.
  • Be aware of all Market line strategy teams to identify and prioritize technical capability gaps from market needs to support and mature the Mobility Business Unit technology roadmap, technology pathway development, and advantageously position Pratt and Miller in the marketspace.
  • Identify future Technical or Engineering initiatives for Pratt Miller to gain new competencies and competitive advantage through technical engagement, integration, proposal development, and key leader engagement.
  • Responsible for engineering and technical best practices and knowledge retention, communication, and reuse across the organization – from Technology office, to Functional Engineering Departments, to Project and Product Engineering Teams
  • Provide direct support to Pratt Miller’s Business Development and Sales Teams to help identify & solve our customers’ problems and advance Pratt Miller’s technical value proposition through state-of-the-art technical integration and business practices.
  • Support trade shows and conferences as a mobility space Subject Matter Expert.
  • Act as Pratt Miller tech & engineering Brand Ambassador via active engagement with industry associations, universities, and corporate partners, event attendance, technical paper publishing, and panel participation as a mobility market Subject Matter Expert.
  • Support PM recruiting efforts by hosting tech talks at target schools, supporting career fairs, and identifying & engaging technically talented candidates
  • Assist Project and Product Teams in creating innovative engineering and technical solutions for customers
  • Mentor high potential engineering or technical Team members to become industry experts in their area

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • At least 20 years of engineering and technical experience
  • Broad recognition in industry and academia as a technical leader in field of expertise
  • Experience building and leading high-performance engineering and technical teams
  • Experience in creating innovative solutions to challenging engineering and technical needs
  • Possess a deep domain expertise in an engineering or technical subject
  • Possess a passion for teaching, coaching, and mentoring young engineers
  • Strong communication, presentation and customer-oriented skills required

DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Controls or similar engineering education
  • Industry and/or academic presence including publications, associations, past conference presentations and panels
  • Key insight to industry technology plans, future force development, and technology integration practices

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

This position will require lawful access to ITAR/EAR controlled information and employees in this role will need to meet those requirements. Requirements include US Citizenship, US Permanent Resident or ability to meet licensure requirements.
