We are looking for a talented test engineer to join our team at a time when we are committing significant investment into our in-house testing capabilities. Working collaboratively across the technical and operations areas of the business you will be responsible for the setup, execution, and reporting of experiments and tests in a fast paced and ever-changing environment. This is a role where you will provide a significant contribution to on-track car performance and reliability, as well as contribute to our long-term Research and Development goals.

Key Accountabilities (Duties):

Reporting to the Lead Test Engineer – Test and Development, your duties will include:

  • Liaise with our Design, Performance and Race Engineers to implement test programmes that deliver results to the track within the required timeframes and constraints.

  • Maintain collaborative inter-departmental relationships within the Engineering Group, as well as across our Operations, Finance and Trackside areas.

  • Engineering support for tests where there are multiple departments making requests across reliability and performance areas - for example, our Seven Post or Twelve Axis activities.

  • In-depth data analysis and the development of software tools in support of suspension, powertrain and safety structures testing.

  • Work closely with the Data Quality Group to ensure that we deliver the highest practicable quality of data – necessary to drive a Right-First-Time decision making process.

  • Creating and maintaining test profiles and ensuring their continual validation against track.

  • Publication of event documentation (including test items, run plans, and job lists) to ensure the our test events are operated to a level of efficiency as if we were trackside.

  • Clear and concise daily and post event reporting of test progress to relevant stakeholders.

  • Continuous improvement of our testing processes – making sure our next event is an improvement over the previous.

  • Support the enablement for our test facilities for commercial use.

Candidate Profile:

Essential:

  • Engineering or physics degree, or equivalent qualification(s).

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a high-performance engineering environment.

  • Experience in delivering experimental results in support of a fast-paced programme.

  • Ability to collaborate and deliver results across different departments and teams.

  • Proven ability to take the initiative.

  • Curious, committed to continuous learning, and ability to adapt quickly to change.

Desirable:

  • Experience in coding to automate processes, manage data and visualise information.

  • Analysis of live and logged data to draw conclusion of component and system health.

  • Trackside motorsport experience.

  • Ability to creatively present data in formats that make it accessible and understandable to a wide range of stakeholders and business areas.

  • Demonstrable experience of delivering in a competition environment (such as sport) where the deadline is immovable.

Specific Advantageous Experiences:

  • Setup and operation of Seven Post rigs for ride reliability and performance investigations.

  • Use of Instron software and hardware for performing proof and fatigue experiments.

  • Use of ATLAS 10 for analysing live and logged data.

  • Previous trackside F1 experience.

  • Coding in any of Python, MATLAB, VBA, DAX, Javascript.

  • Knowledge of single seater suspension system configurations and performance trades.

  • Knowledge of single seater safety homologation requirements.

  • Experience with using Dassault 3DX for extracting information from CAD.
