General Role Overview:

Fisker Inc is looking for a Lead Android Software engineer to support, advise and partner with employees and leaders across our growing team. This role is with the Digital Products team where you’ll be a key member of the Android mobile engineering team working on defining and building next-generation mobility experiences in our consumer facing Android app. The products developed by the teams you work with power Fisker digital journey experiences that are present in the car, on the cloud and in user’s mobile devices. We have a deep focus on the customer, are unafraid to think big, and operate with a Design Thinking and Lean Start-up mindset.

Our ideal candidate has background in delivering multiple apps with a customer-centric mindset with the ability to consistently raise the bar on using modern best practices of Android. You will play a large role working with the design and development teams from concept to commercialization of new mobile products and features. In this role, you will be shipping ground-breaking mobility experiences on Android devices that delight customers, redefine mobility and achieve Fisker’s vision of a clean future for all. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strong experience developing with Kotlin

  • Knowledge of common mobile design patterns like MVP, MVVM, MVI, etc.

  • Experience using standard concepts and technologies such as Asynchronous Programming (RxJava or Coroutines), Dagger2, OkHttp3, Retrofit

  • Experience with profiling UI, memory and threading in Android

  • Familiarity with API design and developing self-documenting, reusable components

  • Experience using monitoring and metrics to support KPIs and performance

  • Experience developing highly performant code and the ability to diagnose performance bottlenecks

  • A disciplined approach to development, testing, documentation and code structure in a team environment

  • An interest in guiding, influencing, and growing other Android engineers and teams

  • A familiarity with the Android tool ecosystem for development, testing, debugging, and performance benchmarking

  • An understanding of how to measure impact of your work and how it translates to the business

  • A constant desire to improve, learn more and take things higher

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years of working experience in Android development

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience

  • Play a leading role in managing the delivery of large cross functional projects spanning multiple development teams

  • Collaborate to define core business objectives in order to deliver the best product, program or project with the most efficient use of company resources

  • Work with cross functional teams – technology, business and operations to manage multiple projects that have conflicting needs / priorities, from concept to launch

  • Collaborate to define the technical architecture of solutions for mobile devices

  • Work with technical astuteness, be detailed oriented and proactive in seeking open issues in the projects and drive subsequent closure

  • Communicate project risks, progress, launches and retrospectives across all stakeholders and teams – consistently and transparently

  • Strive constantly to improve and establish a new bar in performance (using objective metrics) in project execution

  • Actively mentor more junior members of the team, improving their skills, their knowledge of our systems, and their ability to get things done
