General Summary:

Working within the PLM group, this position reports to the PLM Manager or their designee and is located in the Banbury facility. Responsible for the digital build of configured race cars in line with the associated build and service sequences. The Digital Build Engineer will co-ordinate cross functional reviews using the digital data created, identifying any build or service issues and feeding these back into the Design Office before parts are released for manufacture. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
  • Using the Manufacturing Bill of Material (M-BoM) create a Manufacturing Bill of Process (M-BoP) in line with the order of build precedence
  • Ensure full consumption of the Manufacturing Bill of Material (M-BoM) within Bill of Process ensuring 100% consumption – defining and working to agreed completeness metrics and KPIs
  • React to changes in M-BoM and keep M-BoP in line with this
  • Consider service requirements and use this to build up service BoMs
  • Consume all tools from the tooling BoM (Factory and Trackside) using the M-BoP as the basis and generate the Bill of Resource (M-BoR)
  • Position all tools within correct XYZ ordinate defined by their point of use
  • Use the M-BoR to challenge completeness of required build/service tools
  • Facilitate a Manufacturing DMU review and demonstrate build/service issues as found via BoP/BoR analysis
  • Feed build and manufacturing feasibility issues into the design office as an input to the design review process
  • Support the kit generation process up to and through car-build activities
  • Follow all safety regulations in all venues.
  • Other duties as assigned by the PLM Manager.

 

Education and Work Experience:

  • GCSE, High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Further education including University Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering desired.
  • Preferably 4 years of experience of CAD digital build within an Automotive or Aerospace environment.
  • Prior experience in Formula One is advantageous.

 

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong Technical background in using CAD data in a manufacturing assembly environment.
  • Needs to be proactive, flexible, organized and able to prioritize own workload.
  • Work to a consistently high standard in stressful and time sensitive situations.
  • Quick decision-making skills whilst working through problems in a scientific and analytical way.
  • Resolute in ensuring completeness of data and chasing down gaps
  • Work well in a team environment with personnel at all levels.
  • A sympathetic approach to your work colleagues and an ability to integrate within a group environment.
  • A can-do positive approach and a willingness to help others is essential.

 

Equipment and Applications:

  • Solid computer knowledge with experience in Microsoft Office products, PLM systems (3DExperience) and ERP.
  • Ability to prepare and present effective presentations of complex subjects to a diverse audience in an engaging way and agreeing outcomes for resolution.
  • Ability to follow complex regulations related to shipment of materials.


Work Environment Physical Demands:

An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require some, international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends.

 

This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes machinery, race cars, 7-post and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids. All employees must ensure compliance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, and all relevant other statutory Health and Safety legislation.
