We have an exciting opportunity for an Assembly Manager to jour our Operations Assembly team here at Williams Racing. In this role you will be responsible for the leadership and management of the Car Assembly department, including Component Assembly, Electronic Production and Graphics with the aim to deliver, completed, quality, world class cars from the factory.
 

As the Assembly Manager, your key responsibilities will be:

  • Responsible for overseeing the preparation, build and delivery of the F1 cars to the correct specifications for all relevant F1 events.

  • Ensure a consistent high quality of assembly by overseeing standardised internal assembly procedures and build checklists, working closely with the Head of Design Groups and Quality group for their implementation.

  • Internal department resource planning, ensuring delivery targets are met whilst maintaining cost cap targets for resource allocation, managing F1-included and non-F1 projects.

  • Close collaboration with upstream delivery departments (Composites, Inspection, R&D) to ensure seamless delivery of components on plan for assembly.

  • Liaison with external sub-contract suppliers to ensure timely delivery of consistent and quality supplied components.

  • Oversee the component life reporting process for assemblies and car build.

  • Arrange post event strip down inspections ensuring detailed reporting of any issues identified.

  • Ensure all faults and quality issues found within Assembly are reported.  Also investigating and following up on any issues with responsibility for resolution in the department.

  • Ensure accurate time reporting within the department.

  • Maintain departmental assets including putting together sound business case proposals for their replacement and upgrade when required.

  • Oversee team personal development and growth in the department.

  • Supporting positive initiatives for diversity and inclusion.

  • Ensure compliance with the FIA Technical, Sporting, and financial regulations within the department.

  • Encourage, assess, and support efficiency ideas within the department which improve car performance delivery or reduce cost.

  • Lead a culture of continuous improvement within the department.

  • Support non-F1 commercial activities as well as F1 heritage projects.

We are looking for an Assembly Manager with the following experience and skills:

  • Proven experience in automotive or a motorsport environment.

  • Have a good understanding of the FIA F1 Technical, Sporting, and Financial Regulations and keep up to date with changes.

  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management skills. 

  • Strong project management skills, and experience in delivering projects and department tasks.

  • Identify ways to improve department performance, instigate improvement projects and monitor progress by regularly updating performance measures.

  • Previous experience managing a team in a fast-paced, high precision environment.
