Sub-Assembly Technician

Grove Racing competes in the Australian Supercars Championship and we have an opportunity for someone to join our team as a Sub-Assembly Technician. 

You will be primarily based at our factory in Braeside, Victoria and will be required to travel to all Supercars events and test days. You will work collaboratively within the team and be responsible for building, inspecting and managing all the vehicle sub-assemblies, components and associated tooling. The ideal candidate will have +3 years of experience assembling components in either a motorsport, automotive, aerospace or similar industry and a strong understanding of mechanical components and their assembly methods. In addition, they will have an unwavering determination to win and be a team player.

Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Communication with mechanics, engineers and other department leaders
  • Build & service the required car sub-assemblies to a high standard in an efficient, accurate and on time manner, ensuring all vehicle components comply with the relevant technical regulations. Including but not limited to; suspension, steering, pedal box, brake systems & gearboxes.
  • Plan & manage the life of all race car components. Ensure service and replacement intervals are planned & conducted with consideration for the race calendar. Ensure requirements for replacement parts are communicated on time with the relevant parties.
  • Assist in determining, documenting & improving systems and processes.
  • Assist in continuous improvement in all mechanical & engineering areas of the team including; car preparation & presentation, pit stops, and car performance.
  • Assist in loading & unloading of the transporter both at the workshop and events. Ensuring that all required equipment, spare parts and car options are present for each event.
  • Assist in keeping the workshop organised, clean & functional.

The ideal candidate is someone who:

  • Has a high level of mechanical knowledge. Motorsport experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Knowledge of vehicle sub-assembly components and experience in the assembly of such components.
  • Exceptional communication skills, self-motivated and a collaborative team player
  • Computer skills including Microsoft office programs: Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook, and Share Point.
  • Is organised and able to prioritise tasks to deliver to agreed deadlines.
  • Operate in a positive & professional manner.
  • Specialist on the job training will be provided where required.
