Serviceability Engineer

What to Expect

We are recruiting for a Serviceability Engineer to join our fantastic Aftersales Services Operations Department in Woking. As the Serviceability Engineer you will work in the Vehicle Serviceability team within Service Development in Aftersales. Here you will report to the Vehicle Serviceability Manager and Senior Manager – Service Development. Experience and a rounded knowledge of all aspects of vehicle service is essential, and you will use this knowledge to influence future vehicle design throughout the development process with a focus on the needs of the customer and our retailers. You will also be an integral part of our focus to retrospectively enhance the service level of our existing vehicles by developing new repair processes and special tooling.

What You'll Do

  • Reviewing current designs for Serviceability and introduce improvements.
  • Reviewing and signing off Engineering changes where appropriate, correlate engineering changes and disseminate information to the Serviceability team.
  • Benchmarking of competitor vehicles for Serviceability
  • Leading the research, development and implementation of solutions to improve the service level of our vehicles retrospectively on allocated Enhanced Serviceability projects.
  • Representing Service Development as the lead throughout the vehicle development process.
  • Communicating Service Development progress and critical issues to programme management, Chief Engineers and Aftersales stakeholders on allocated vehicle projects.
  • Confidently challenging design concerns that impact the customer and our retailers in project meetings.
  • Reviewing maintenance schedules for existing models
  • Reviewing vehicle design to improve the cost of ownership and support accessory opportunities including retrofit items.
  • Reviewing potential requirements for special tooling and communicate to the Serviceability team, engaging & managing suppliers where appropriate and completing validation activities.
  • Performing regular reviews with Engineering function groups to ensure Service Targets are met.

What You'll Bring

  • Experience in a high-quality road car environment and fully conversant with all aspects of vehicle repairs and servicing including body repair.
  • Experience of refurbishment programmes in the automotive sector
  • Understanding of dealership documentation and maintenance systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project etc.)
  • Conversant with CAD (Catia V5)
  • Educated to degree level in Mechanical or Automotive engineering, or possessing extensive automotive experience.
