We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior R&D Test Engineer to join our R&D team here at Williams Racing. In this position you will lead the R&D technical testing function, developing capabilities, methodologies, and processes. You will be working closely with the Engineering Design team to deliver performance and reliability to the track.
As a Senior R&D Test Engineer, your key responsibilities will be:

Responsible for the planning, execution, post running analysis, and reporting of test events within the R&D function.

Liaison with Engineering Design, Stress, Aerodynamics, Simulation and Trackside engineers to develop cost effective R&D test capability to meet the team’s needs.

Ensure that departmental test activity documentation for requests, run plans and result conclusions are clear, concise, and detailed, ensuring a right-first-time test, and strong engagement from all stakeholders.

Working closely with design and simulation engineers; develop test sequences, methodologies, and procedures for verification and validation of car concepts.

Develop data analysis techniques and future direction for further development.

Keep up to date with latest advances in technology, seeking out opportunities for application.

Outline test capability requirements for long-term investment with strong justification.

Report and follow up on test reliability and quality issues.

Drive data quality and instrumentation for test development.

Understand test rig control system capabilities, collaborating with suppliers on future developments as well as internal Systems Engineering and Software groups.

Transmissions and Suspension Systems.

Support commercial application of testing infrastructure.

Contribute towards a safe working environment, ensuring activities are risk assessed, complying with safety control measures, and raising safety observations and concerns.
We are looking for a Senior R&D Test Engineer with the following skills:

Proven experience within an R&D test, or motorsport trackside environment.

Strong engineering degree or related subject.

Good analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to clearly communicate conclusions and actions.

Be able to take full ownership of new and existing projects and department tasks.

Highly organised and comfortable with the high pressure fast-paced environment.

Have a solid understanding of F1 technology, including Power Unit, Hydraulics, Cooling Systems, Brakes, Transmissions and Suspension Systems.

Have a good understanding of the FIA F1 Technical, Sporting, and Financial Regulations and keep up to date with changes.

Experience with training and mentoring other engineers and technicians.
