Motorsports Purchasing Manager

Summary

The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for acquisitions and procurement of goods and services on behalf of Ilmor. The Position will perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend, manage suppliers, focus on cost reduction throughout the supply chain and identifying cost-saving opportunities through improved efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritize and direct the activities of Purchasing Buyers
  • Develop and maintain forecasts, capacity models, and line of balance files for reporting to executive management
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate purchasing metrics
  • Implement and sustain meticulous housekeeping and visual appearance standards
  • Calculate and maintain optimal inventory levels using statistical techniques and supply chain management best practices based on historical consumption, future forecasts, lead time and risk
  • Optimize the utilization of EpiCor MRP system to control purchasing, predict problems, and report performance
  • Receive purchase requisitions from internal customers.  Determine best sourcing opportunity through make Vs buy analysis based on optimal combination of cost, lead time, and quality, then issue purchase orders.  Track and expedite delivery as needed.
  • Identify and qualify strategic suppliers to reduce cost and risk of quality and delivery problems
  • Implement strategies to protect against cost increases and reduce PPV, without sacrificing product quality
  • Implement supplier quality and delivery improvements
  • Coordinate with customers, suppliers, and internal departments as the main point of contact for understanding requirements, aligning resources, and communicating commitments. 
  • Receive and enter sales orders.
  • Monitor execution of commitments to customers, coordinate with internal management to develop recovery plans as needed.
  • Ensure timely and accurate clerical task completion, including purchase order creation, and other tasks
  • Develop face-to-face supplier and customer relationships, travel to suppliers and trade shows
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Estimated Travel: 10-15%

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field (e.g. Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or similar.)
  • 2+ years of experience utilizing Epicor ERP or similar
  • Experience in assembly manufacturing environment with a complicated Bill of materials
  • Understanding of Internal Combustion Engines
  • 5+ years of experience using ERP/MRP Inventory and Manufacturing Systems
  • 3+ years of purchasing and strategic sourcing
  • 1+ years experience managing direct reports
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Strong analytical & mathematical skills
  • Passion for motorsports and/or Marine

This is an on-site position at our HQ in Plymouth, MI.
