Electronics Technician

Duties and Responsibilities
o   Accurately building precision electrical wiring harnesses and circuits to design specifications by collaborating with Engineers to achieve desired results. 

o   Analyzing and incorporating manufacturer’s design specifications for all electrical components.

o   Troubleshooting all wiring and electrical problems on cars and equipment according to results of on track performance.

o   Maintaining a reasonable stock of spare parts and materials to build spare components.

o   Openly communicating with Team Managers, Engineers, equipment vendors and outside consultants to ensure problems are solved and equipment operates with the highest reliability possible.

o   Designing and continuously improving electrical harnesses and circuits for use on cars and support equipment to remain competitive at a professional level.

o   Performing quality control of finished products to ensure items exactly fit design specifications.

o   Researching and developing new materials and components to build and preserve a competitive advantage while keeping costs at a minimum.

o   Meeting specified deadlines for race car preparation while producing a quality product.

o   Maintaining accurate records of changes to all electrical components of the car to track progress in development and document proven wiring strategies. 

o   Produce and maintain databases and spreadsheets to log and track all electrical/electronic parts

o   Providing direction and acting as a mentor to less experienced technicians to ensure quality control while promoting a positive learning environment.

o   Safely operating equipment according to recommended safety specifications, including use of all protective equipment necessary (protective eyewear, earplugs, etc) while identifying any safety hazards and reporting all risks immediately to a supervisor.

o   Safekeeping and proper use of all company property issued during employment, including uniforms, tools, toolboxes, electronic devices, credit cards and any other productivity tools.

o   Professionally represent the team and its sponsors on and off track premises.  Treating sponsors and their guests with respect by acknowledging them and appropriately answering their questions during shop tours. 

o   Keeping work area clean and organized at all times.

o   Providing assistance to other team members on other duties as appropriate.

Qualifications

o   7+ years working experience as an electronics technician, preferably in the IRL, CART, F1 or similar racing series. Military and/or aviation experience a plus.

o   Associates degree or equivalent course work in electrical engineering or applied electronics with documentation of certifications or completion of accredited program.

o   Demonstrate a general understanding of electrical components as a part of set-up specifications for race cars and the appropriate safety mechanisms for each component.

o   General knowledge of electronic and structural framework of race cars. 

o   Working knowledge of crimping tools and techniques and using and interpreting results of electrical testing equipment.
o   Experience building and working on looms. 

o   Must be proficient in using precision measuring devices.
