Power Unit System Engineer

Honda Racing Corporation has established a new subsidiary, Honda Racing Corporation UK Ltd. (HRC UK) in the UK.
 
This new company has been founded to primarily perform post-race maintenance and preparation tasks on the Honda built current F1 power units (PUs), whilst also operating as a logistics operation for the European region. The establishment of HRC UK will further enhance the effectiveness of Honda’s PU operations, in support of the partnership with Aston Martin Aramco Formula One® Team. In May 2023, Honda and Aston Martin F1 jointly announced they will enter into works partnership so that Honda will supply its F1 PUs compliant with the new F1 regulations which will take effect in the 2026 season.

The purpose of this role is to look after operation and reliability of PU (ICE and ERS System) at Trackside and at Factory to support the development of F1 Engines on Dyno etc. This role is not only for 26 Regulation PU but also for current.

Main Responsibilities; 

•    Manage and look after each Power-Unit (ICE and ERS System) operation and control data
•    Attend the mission control room to support the trackside
•    Understand updated control specification (algorithm), create and setup control data.
•    Collect running result and optimize the control data setting
•    Proceed Engine Fire up
•    Data set up — Monitoring while operating Power-Unit 
•    Report Faults
•    Daily report; Create and Report Daily trackside feedback information etc.
•    Make sure the process and procedure for PU work in track, support the track-side tool development and giving the feedback to factory members
•    Support PU engineer at track side.
•    Support dyno testing activities in Japan, UK and any customer site
•    Some training in Japan might be required
•    Any other reasonable tasks as required by the Company

Knowledge, Skills and Experience; 

•    Knowledge of F1 Power Units
•    Ability to analyse data from Power-Unit reliability and performance aspect 
•    Fault finding and diagnostic abilities
•    Track-side experience
•    Excellent document presentational skills
•    Familiar with analysis tools such as ATLAS, System Monitor
•    An adept communicator, able to build good relationships across all cultures both internally and externally
•    Fluency in spoken & written English is essential. Competence in Japanese or another European language is desirable 
•    PC literate
•    Competence and licence to drive in the UK
•    Travel overseas will be required
