Alpine F1 Team has a rare opportunity to join us as our Wind Tunnel Manager, responsible for delivering a world-class experimental facility for the aerodynamic development of F1 cars and other motorsport vehicles. This person will play a central role as we expand our capabilities and technologies to prepare us for the technical challenges of tomorrow.
Wind Tunnel Manager - The Role
You will run a team of engineers providing direct support to ensure the availability, efficiency and quality of the wind tunnel and supporting aerodynamic test rigs, and will be directly involved in the identification and execution of new projects that seek to enhance our experimental operations.
You will be constantly on the lookout for ways to improve our facilities, techniques and working practices, working with your own team and others to deliver mechanical, electrical and software upgrades. You will be happy to get hands-on as required, including developing and operating supporting experimental rigs.
An excellent communicator, you will foster collaborative relationships across the company to the betterment of our experimental work, as well as mentoring and developing your team. You will also be responsible for monitoring and regularly reporting on the performance of the tunnel facility and its subsystems, along with overseeing their maintenance.
Wind Tunnel Manager - The Person
The prime requirement for this role is a deep knowledge of all aspects of a wind tunnel facility and experimental methods, which you will have gained through extensive experience in Formula 1 or a similar technically advanced industry. You will have excellent leadership and people-management skills, and be a clear communicator in both written and verbal form. You will be able to work autonomously and plan projects under pressure to ensure demanding deadlines are met, working flexibly as required. While organising the work required by your own team and other parties, you will be equally comfortable carrying out practical work yourself, using your judgement to assess where your skills can be put to their best use to achieve overall objectives.
