Senior Manager SQD - Series

What to Expect

We are recruiting for a Senior Manager SQD - Series to join our Supplier Quality Assurance team in Woking. As the Senior Manager you will manage the SQD Series and Parts Inspection function. Ensuring production suppliers are fully supporting McLaren Vehicle build schedule and contain any Quality issues to maintain vehicle production with saleable parts.

What You'll Do

  • Providing Strategic Leadership within the cross functional Management teams, to ensure process discipline, collaborating with Product Development, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Scheduling / Logistics and Purchasing to remove roadblocks to McLaren Quality & Supply issues.
  • Providing Leadership to supplier responsible Warranty & Current production defect part replacement chargeback process.
  • Supporting Procurement TVM department targets by to helping to identify build cost opportunities and developing new content for Model Year updates.
  • Conducting regular reviews of the supply base performance (Top 10 Poor performing suppliers), driving repeat process mistake reduction and engaging SQA Site and Purchasing Teams support to drive “Fix or Leave” strategy for under-performing suppliers.
  • Working with McLaren Production Planning / Scheduling department to develop a Supplier Part Capacity database, supporting improved scheduling feasibility that helps identify potential supplier part constraints.
  • In addition, you will oversee Series Change Management, ensuring timely and robust sign off through the PPAP process.
  • Ensuring Supplier responsible MPC production losses are accurately recorded.
  • Supporting Supplier responsible warranty analysis / investigation and chargeback.
  • Supporting Series Production start-up meetings at MPC.
  • Collaborating with McLaren Production planning / scheduling to drive utilisation of Supplier Capacity Verification data to mitigate infeasible build schedules.

What You'll Bring

  • Significant experience leading a Team at Manager level or higher.
  • Minimum of 10 years Manufacturing Engineering, Production and Quality experience in Automotive or Aerospace at OEM or Tier 1.
  • Experience interacting with suppliers at Director level.
  • Technical Engineer, qualified to Master’s Degree or higher.
  • Have an advanced knowledge and experience of;

o APQP

o PPAP

o FMEA

o SPC

o MSA

o Lean / SMED experience

o Capacity Planning and Capacity Verification experience.

o 6 Sigma

o Structured Problem Solving (8D)

o Robustness – Taguchi Methods

  • Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio etc.
  • English Language
