(Senior) Engineer (m/f/d) Simulation

We are looking for a (Senior) Engineer (m/f/d) Simulation to be part of our team in the UK with the mission to support global Toyota with in-house simulator technology.

Your tasks:

 

You will contribute to the continued development of this technology for a broad range of Motorsport and Automotive applications and be required to take ownership of feature developments and customer deliverables. This will involve algorithm and model development to keep Toyota at the leading edge of innovation and drive forward the virtualisation of vehicle development. You’ll also have close contact with the customer / end-user, allowing you to be part of the full development cycle - from requirements and concept development through to delivery of your work. This will include occasional travel to other Toyota facilities around the world for support and delivery.

 

As part of the UK team, you’ll work closely with various TGR-E groups in our head office in Cologne, supporting a common development process and technologies.

Background:

  • Industry experience of mathematical modelling and simulation.

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline (or similar) with modules / projects relating to a number of the following topics:

    • Simulation

    • Optimisation

    • Control Theory

    • Robotics / Mechatronics

    • Mathematical (White Box) Modelling

    • Black Box Modelling (e.g. Machine Learning)

    • Vehicle Dynamics

  • Ability to demonstrate basic engineering principles confidently and apply these to varying scenarios / problems.

  • Previous experience working with real-time hardware-in-loop simulation systems (ideally including the creation, build and execution of models).

  • Previous experience in motion cueing algorithm development, optimisation and tuning.

 

Desirable Skills:

  • Proficient in more than one programming language – e.g. MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C++.

  • Previous experience working across multiple operating systems.

  • Experienced in team-based development best practices including Agile methodologies.

  • Previous experience with Driving Simulators and Model Based Design.

  • Appreciation and understanding of source control and continuous integration tools in a development pipeline.
