The Opportunity

AER is a successful Engineering Manufacturing company offering a stable and well rewarded opportunity in Quality Inspection. Joining AER’s experienced Quality Inspector to support during a period of increased volume; the successful candidate will have existing Quality Inspection experience in engineering. Knowledge of motorsport or aerospace is preferential. CMM experience is essential; whilst working in an environment of first off’s, batch and final inspection desirable.

Demonstrating meticulous attention to detail and good productivity with a commitment to ‘getting things done’ is very important.

 

Role Outline:

  • Read blueprints, drawings and specifications

  • Monitor operations to ensure that they meet production standards

  • Inspect, test or measure materials or products being produced

  • Measure products with handheld measuring devices such as rulers, callipers, gauges and micrometres

  • Use electronic inspection equipment – CMM

  • Laser marking identification on all products

  • Accept or reject finished items

  • Remove all products and materials that fail to meet specifications

  • Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products

  • Report inspection and test data

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Understanding task requirements and completing as assigned.

  • Asking questions and assisting wherever possible.

  • Raising concerns and making suggestions for improvement where appropriate.

  • Establishing professional relationships with staff.

  • Maintaining a high degree of professionalism and diligence.

  • Promoting a safe working environment in accordance with health & safety standards, requirements, and procedures

 

Prior Experience:

  • Experience in automotive or aerospace environments desirable

  • Previous experience in a quality inspection role essential, anticipate 3 years plus

  • Knowledge of inspecting machined parts essential - experience with large castings (engine, block, head and sump)

  • Experience and knowledge of engine parts desirable

  • Strong understanding of quality control standards and testing techniques

  • Experience with electronic inspection equipment essential

     

Key Skills:

  • Attention to details with a well organised, methodical approach to work

  • Recognising that tasks need completing correctly, accurately, and regularly.

  • Maths – basic knowledge of maths and computer skills required for measuring, calibrating and calculating specifications

  • Mechanical – ability to use specialised tools and machinery when testing products

  • Technical – Understand blueprints, technical documents, manuals and ensuring that products and parts meet quality standards.

  • Manual handling – ability to handle correctly and lift to a safe lifting weight

  • An interest in motorsport is helpful

  • Enthusiastic with a genuine desire to understand and improve the business

  • Ability to operate under pressure, demonstrating resilience and a calm approach

  • Confident in answering information requests

  • High Level of diligence

  • A valid driver’s licence may be required.

• A self-starter who demonstrates self-initiative, a positive ‘can do’ attitude and is motivated to improve and problem solve whilst working hard as part of a team.

 

Hours of work & Benefits

40-hour, full-time week, working 8 hours a day Monday – Friday, flexible across the hours of 7.30am to 5.15pm with a 45-minute lunch break. The role is based on site at the AER unit in Burnt Mills Industrial Estate owing to the nature of the job responsibilities
