The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for an established Design Engineer to join the small, talented team at AER. The role is required to offer design and analysis support to new, interesting business opportunities and existing programs. There will be some involvement in additional projects depending on the work volume and opportunities to develop knowledge and skillset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the design/analysis of critical components for exciting new projects, the Indy Lights program and Historics business.
  • Implement engine build manuals and technical documents from the ground up, referenced daily by engineers and build staff.
  • Fault analysis of failed components, determining the cause and producing failure reports to distribute across the engineering team
  • Communicating with external suppliers for fault analysis and product development
  • Data analysis from track and dyno data to spot anomalies
  • Using Catia V5 to create models, assemblies and technical drawings

 

Skills Required:

  • Efficient user of CATIA V5R21 for solid and surface modelling with technical drawings
  • Efficient user of EFACs for data management and BOM control
  • Capable of using structural analysis packages in CATIA for part optimisation
  • Formal training of GD&T
  • Data analysis of track & Dyno data in LifeView
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture
  • Efficient at fault investigation, containment and rectification
  • Proficient Microsoft Office Suite user

 

 

Qualifications needed:

  • Bachelors level degree in engineering (Mechanical) 2:1 or higher

 

 

Key Skills / Experience

  • 3- 5 years’ experience in a similar role at a professional motorsport level (powertrain), ideally F1, WEC, IndyCar, DTM or other relevant experience
  • High competence level with PC / typical software - MS Office (particularly Excel), Matlab, etc.
  • Degree qualified or equivalent in a mechanical or engineering discipline
  • A self-starter who is highly motivated, very well organised and demonstrates a growth mindset.

Hours of work & Benefits

Standard full-time working week, 40 hours a week, 8 hours a day. When based at AER's Essex facility, standard office hours are flexible between 7.30am to 5.15pm. To meet the needs of the role and fast paced nature of the business, the successful candidate will require a flexible approach to working hours.

Salary – competitive depending on experience.
