Purpose of Role

Technical and delivery responsibility for all aspects of Vehicle Dynamics, CAE multibody and Full Vehicle Simulation.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Be responsible for all aspects of Vehicle Dynamics from target setting to programme sign-off, meeting attribute, timing and cost targets.
  • Managing Vehicle Dynamics project delivery and CAE teams
  • Manage benchmarking, vehicle positioning and resulting target cascade utilising subjective and objective measures
  • Support chassis and commodity teams in technology and suspension architecture selection, development and provide analysis of key performance indicators
  • Lead the technical delivery of all vehicle dynamics hardware and software calibration development on vehicle programmes
  • Support launch activities and create processes required for a robust launch schedule
  • Maintenance, analysis and reporting on vehicle and sub-system models by overseeing all internal and external Vehicle Dynamics simulation & testing activities.
  • Communicate progress and criticalities to programme management and the Chief Engineers.
  • Define attribute DVP and work in continual collaboration with Vehicle Engineering Managers to plan and ensure delivery of DVP activities.
  • Support with the continual development of the multibody, full vehicle models and testing methodologies to reduce development times, improve realism and test data accuracy and correlation of our tools and increase the level of cross-function/attribute integration.
  • Support other teams/functions with full vehicle and multibody simulations
  • Develop relationships with academia, software and hardware suppliers and key consultancies

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • More than 15 years direct OEM Vehicle dynamics and CAE experience in Automobile industry
  • Leader of high performance cross functional teams
  • Extensive experience of automotive testing and development
  • Experience in developing suspension architecture
  • Excellent Vehicle Dynamics and Vehicle Development knowledge
  • Experience in component release management and problem solving
  • Experience of high and niche vehicle (low volume) programs
  • Good knowledge about vehicle proving grounds and facilities in Europe
  • An ability to deliver under pressure with an appetite for measured success
