The candidate reports to the Manager, Systems Engineering, and works closely with all the relevant teams and gets involved in the engineering process of transforming Fisker’s detailed product requirements into a complete, cohesive design. The candidate is responsible for making the detailed design of hardware and software architectures in collaboration with engineers from other domains such as hardware/software, and with other organizational stakeholders. This candidate will also be responsible for complete documentation of the detailed design using an engineering design tool in compliance with ASPICE and ISO26262 requirements

The candidate will coordinate the efforts of internal engineering teams as well as external stakeholders, including suppliers, partners, etc. to achieve the objectives of their role. The successful candidate will demonstrate a keen interest and deep technical skills to design system architectures for advanced EE systems. They will also demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills that will help them build strong working relationships with all stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Report up to the Manager, Systems Engineering, and take ownership of one or more items/aspects of System Engineering. Drive the successful delivery of all System Engineering deliverables for those items.

  • Work closely with your counterparts to analyze system requirements for the items you are responsible for.

  • Using the product requirements as the foundation, define and refine the architecture and detailed physical and logical design of the items or system you are responsible for.

  • Understand the design of all aspects of the system, including core features & functions, performance KPIs, diagnostics, power management, functional safety, cybersecurity, thermal management, OTA updates, quality & standards, etc.

  • Design the inter-domain/distributed system functions and domain-to-domain interactions within your assigned system or items.

  • Take the ownership of modeling of the vehicle network system using the designated design and modeling tool.

  • Take the ownership for the creation of the Functions List and EEBoM of the system.

  • Using lessons learned during design process, contribute actively to enhancing and refining the product requirements.

  • Own responsibility for complete documentation and modeling of the detailed design using an engineering design tool such as Vector PREEVision or IBM Rhapsody.

  • Collaborate closely with the engineers from EE hardware and software teams for the implementation of prototypes and productization of the System Engineering team’s designs.

  • Collaborate closely with the corresponding stakeholders in Pre-development teams to validate and verify your designs in the pre-prototype, prototype, and productization stages.

  • Support the technical engagement of suppliers and partners for sourced hardware and software components and deliver product requirements to the suppliers and partners to align with the overall product vision.

  • Continuously take feedback from the hardware and software development process to improve the system requirements and detailed design.
