McLaren Advanced Projects (MAP) is a multidisciplinary engineering unit that works on many of the most ambitious technical challenges at McLaren Racing. The newly created function is designed to innovate and unlock performance across various racing series operating worldwide.

 

But racing is just the start. McLaren Advanced Projects also collaborates with McLaren Automotive on hypercars and supercars, and undertakes projects on a wide range of scientific and engineering projects for our partners.

 

Within McLaren Advanced Projects, we assemble integrated teams to work across the full development process from concept to release, drawing on 60 years of continuous development in F1 and beyond. Team members bring a wide range of skills to bear on our projects, from aerodynamics and computational fluid dynamics to lightweight structures and composites, data science and advanced simulations.

 

Purpose of the Role

Perform Structural Analysis in order to maximise the structural performance of components and assemblies of race cars, high-end road cars and for aerospace applications. The role will use the latest structural simulation tools, engineering skill and creativity and ensure that stringent safety and durability requirements are satisfied.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Work autonomously to develop and validate FEA structural models.
  • Ensure solutions meet functional safety and reliability requirements.
  • Provide technical input into proposals and identify best solutions.
  • Develop solutions to maximise component and assembly performance.
  • Solve complex problems, take a new perspective using existing solutions and develop new solutions.
  • Ensure that agreed internal methodologies and procedures are followed and that a high quality of work is maintained.
  • Contribute to continuously improve engineering processes for the benefit of the business.
  • Be aware of any interdependencies that may impact delivery.
  • Timely reporting of analysis results in a clear, concise and structured manner.
