We are looking for a Senior Engineer (m/f/d) Materials to be part of our research and development and works motorsport team in Cologne, Germany.

Your tasks:

 

  • Assist designers for material and related process selection (heat/surface treatments) for components, with strong emphasis on cost control 
  • Release of design allowable values for design and calculation purposes
  • Proposal and follow up of material related R&D activities, develop, test and evaluate materials and production technology
  • Establish material development strategy when needed
  • Proactive handling of material issues during component production 
  • Provide support in the field of material research and acquisition as well as material quality incl. supplier certification approval, material certificates assessment, material related SCR (supplier concession request) assessment 
  • Provide when needed support to deal with regulatory bodies (motorsport and road cars)
  • Maintain state of the art global material competence (publication reviews, seminars)
  • Manage projects requiring material expertise

The successful candidate will:

 

  • University or technical college degree in materials science or surface engineering or similar qualification 
  • Professional experience in a relevant research and development area, industry or at a corresponding institute 
  • Verifiable experience especially in the field of bonding technologies, hybrid material systems and fiber composite materials
  • Sound English language skills
  • A “customer first” approach with strong interpersonal skills to actively develop and use collaborative relationships in order to achieve results
  • Strong communication and cooperation skills, professional appearance, a precise working style and high project management competence
  • Ideally experience in dealing with Japanese culture
