This individual will report to the Regional Director and work closely with the Sales and Aftersales Departments and relevant Head Office functions (principally Network Development, Legal and Finance). The role will take full responsibility for the future development of the McLaren retail network and lead on business management in terms of scorecard, business planning and financial performance.

Principal Accountabilities

Franchise Development

  • Ownership of local franchise application process, from initial application through to final setup as a McLaren authorised retailer, ensuring communication with relevant departments.
  • Regional gatekeeper for retail design of new retailers, service centres and changes to existing facilities.
  • Ensures that a robust process is in place to enable the fit out of dealership facilities (preferred supplier selection, specification of CI elements, etc.)
  • Work with Central departments to be the Regional Lead for McLaren’s Network Strength programme which focuses on moving Dealer performance up based on targeted diagnosis and actions

Business Performance

  • To offer a skill set and set of deliverables that is distinct from the Regional Sales and Aftersales teams such that additional value is delivered in the sustainment of network health over the long-term
  • Take the Regional lead in  co-ordinating Scorecard usage to uncover opportunities for specific, future improvements
  • Co-ordinate and complete annual Dealer Business Planning process and sign-off by Region and Central stakeholders. Subsequently, periodically track performance against plan
  • Support Central Network Development Department to deploy, regionalise and operate Retailer Network Policies and Procedures.
  • Implementation and governance of the Sales and Aftersales Retailer Operating Standards.
  • Identify financial opportunities for businesses and coach the regional teams in the delivery of executing retailer improvements.
  • Manage monthly financial composite submissions from dealer network and provide regular feedback to retailers and field teams on recovery/improvement priorities.

Dealer Training

  • Plan, Manage and Implement Training within region for all departments
  • Develop learning pathways that are suited to Regional priorities to ensure the Retailer Network meets the minimum skill levels to deliver the customer quality and satisfaction standards.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Degree-level education in a relevant discipline
  • Experience in automotive OEM sales or network development with proven ability to deliver premier dealers in planned markets and identify desirable dealer investors
  • Strong background in franchise network aspect of the auto industry, retail dealer operations and dealer financials
  • Understand franchise law and terminology, lease/purchase agreements and real estate functions
  • Proven skills to analyse dealer representation in the marketplace
  • Detail oriented with excellent project management and organizational skill set
  • Ability to bring creative ideas, solutions and translate them into actions
