Quality Engineer

Purpose of the Role:

Reliability is essential to our championship winning chances. The appointment of a designated quality engineer to support engineering systems design, manufacture, part assembly and test processes is vital to accelerate and yield improvements at all stages of the cars lifecycle. Working through the initial concept teams including design engineering and the supply chain, the role covers a variety of components and manufacturing techniques.

Role Dimensions:

Based at MTC reporting to the Head of Quality; the role will involve travel to suppliers and test facilities.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Work with the design team on all aspects of manufacture to improvement reliability and RFT.
  • Work with suppliers to utilise best practice quality principles during manufacture and help solve non-conformances, improve quality and right first-time approach.
  • Develop and control MRL database to ensure suppliers that are used are audited and approved for use.
  • Develop and control Audit database to ensure audit records are retained and NC’s are resolved.
  • Use quality data to drive which suppliers are used in an autonomous and digitally controlled way.
  • Conduct external supplier audits.
  • Work with the inspection department and manufacturing to resolve non-conformances and harness learning for future reference in design for ease of manufacture
  • To help with and drive the decision-making process and containment of Trackside car faults with the design team and assembly areas
  • Report all quality concerns directly to appropriate stakeholders and lead drive for resolution
  • Proactively lead problem solving activities for quality concerns and component failures
  • Create and deploy inspection control procedures
  • Work with internal machine shops to develop NCR resolutions, improving right first time by identifying trends and implementing solutions.
