Purpose of Role

This is an excellent opportunity to play a pivotal role in helping to shape the future of McLaren Logistics during a period of rapid and exciting business growth. Reporting directly to the relevant Team Leader for Line 1, Line 2 or Line 3.

You will be fully responsible for managing a small team of Line Feeders and ensuring parts are available and delivered lineside at “Point of Fit”. This encompasses the on time in full replenishment parts and accessories to the production lineside, ensuring workplace health and safety requirements are met, control of stock, and with shared accountability to ensure productivity targets are achieved.

The aim is to provide the very best possible “prod” or “clean car” leaving you’re zone and entering the next with as many parts issues as possible resolved. 

Principal Accountabilities

Results orientated – Accountable to ensure all part availability is achieved where possible throughout your zone. Assisting productivity targets in turn supporting the achievement of the business plan volume

Leadership – To lead and motivate the Paint shop Line Feeders working for you in your zone. Develop the Line Feeders and transfer your knowledge, skills and tools in order to mentor the Line Feeders into possible future Zone Controllers.

Cross Functional team working - Interaction with key stakeholders, I.e., General Assembly. EOL, FOK The operational performance of your Zone is managed real time and fully supported by all functional areas.

Issue Management - Point of escalation and leading the resolution of systems and process constraints, discussions, and issues. All instances to be reviewed and rectification measures to be applied to prevent re-occurrence.

Operational Performance Management and Reporting – Ensure that you report and assist in any areas you highlight as having an issue i.e., SAP functions, Health and Safety and manpower allocation throughout zones. Assist in transfer of knowledge and assist in any KPIs to support daily operations and management of the respective functional areas.

Continuous Improvement – Review your operational systems and procedures on a frequent basis, identifying and proposing clear recommendations for improvements in efficiency and effectiveness. Essential to be involved in any changes in control cycles and delivery methods. Develop new tracking process to replace old tracking document / parts tracker 

Inventory Accuracy – To deliver relevant data related to inventory accuracy, recording all parts issues in your zone, engage with team leaders and Group leaders and Shift Managers to maintain focus on the production line using transactions and a positive behaviour to support, enable and drive the improvements in your zone.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Paint shop part tracking, Lineside operations and inventory management experience ideally gained with an automotive manufacturer.
  • Experience of leading a small team.
  • Ability to monitor all Kanban/trolley rotations within your Zone.
  • Proven ability to act under pressure with calmness, clarity of thought and decisive authority.
  • Ability to identify and manage parts shortages.
  • Validate intended line sequence within and approaching your Zone.
  • Ability to monitor 4 parts or less lineside availability within your Zone.
  • Experience in SAP also analysing and interpreting data.
  • Proven communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to source replacement parts should a part be damaged and non-conformed by GA.
  • Skills to ensure the consequential parts process is followed and all sequence parts have been consumed from lineside stillage’s highlighting those that haven’t.
  • IT literate (Microsoft applications especially Excel, SAP etc).
