Junior Aero Performance Software Engineer

This position: reports to the Aero Performance Team Leader or their designee and is located in Maranello, IT. This position is heavily involved with the application and development of advanced software and mathematical models with a strong focus on providing information that will be utilised in the continuous improvement of the performance of the car. You will be working closely with Aerodynamics, and Race Engineering groups.

 

Key Responsibilities:


  • Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
  • Maintenance and improvement of existing applications and tools in use by the team for aerodynamics/telemetry data analysis.
  • Propose new data driven models for APG Engineers at the track to improve the understanding of the aerodynamics behaviour at the track.
  • Analyse and report on model correlation between track and wind tunnel.
  • Support part of race weekends for the introduction of new applications, models, logics when needed.
  • Implement software following best practice of SDLC (agile).
  • Demonstrate passion for continuous improvement, researching and understanding the latest methodologies and technologies when appropriate.
  • Follow all safety regulations in all venues.
  • Assume any responsibilities and duties delegated by the Aero Performance Team Leader or their designee.

 

Education and Work Experience:

 

  • MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related fields.
  • Prior industrial placement experience in an internship role would be beneficial.

 

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:


  • Experienced with OOP in one of the following languages: Python, C# or C++ is essential.
  • Experienced with AI (especially deep learning) and ML modelling.
  • Good background in mathematics, physics and/or fluid mechanics is beneficial.
  • Experienced in using versioning control systems (Git).
  • Understanding of SQL and .Net Entity Framework is also beneficial but not required.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A can-do positive approach and a willingness to help others is essential.
