Purpose of Role

The Design and Engineering Analyst provides business guidance on best practice use of Design and Engineering services in use across McLaren to deliver business outcomes. The role provides good customer engagement to translate business issues and requirements into solutions, acting as a subject matter expert (SME) in the field. 

Principal Accountabilities

  • Is pro-active in identifying any negative service trends, incident root causes and opportunities for service improvement. Works to improve the service provision and experience to McLaren users and customers through incremental improvement.
  • Works with Business Owners and Key Users to define and refine the use of technology and processes within Design and Engineering validating the feasibility and scoping of any proposed changes.
  • Owns individual continuous improvements in Design and Engineering driving the design, configuration, testing and support of Design and Engineering services in line with business unit roadmaps, product roadmaps and business outcomes
  • Provides platform configuration duties on Design and Engineering services – Ensuring the tools are configured for the business’ needs.
  • Delivers output aligned to IT standards, best practice and future strategies.
  • Provides guidance and advice of best practice use of Design and Engineering services and encourages service users to achieve consistent standards of use.
  • Creates and maintains documentation on Design and Engineering services to ensure McLaren has access to relevant technical information now and into the future.
  • Delivers to time ensuring strong collaboration and communication with all stakeholders

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, Linux & Solaris knowledge would be advantageous.
  • Application Management skills e.g. configuration, license management, access & controls – experience of CAD and Product Data Management systems like CATIA, 3DExperience, Teamcenter would be advantageous.
  • Customer focused approach with good communications and prioritisation skills
  • Attention to detail with a pragmatic determination to solve problems
  • Have an inquisitive interest in Engineering, Manufacturing and ideally in the Automotive or Aerospace sectors.
  • Remote desktop/technical support experience, IT infrastructure analysis & troubleshooting skills (hardware, network, virtualisation)
  • Some scripting and/or programming experience in PowerShell, C++, Java, Python
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server or other database technologies
