F1 CONTROL SYSTEMS ENGINEER

The FIA Technical Department is looking for a Control Systems Engineer to join its team responsible for the technical developments, event support and compliance auditing of electronic systems in the Formula One Championship. The position will be in the FIA Electronics Group, based in Geneva, with travel to the race track. 

MISSIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Control Systems Expertise:
- Contribute to the FIA road map for control systems technology, including multi-systems architecture, software, hardware and data
- Liaise with the competitors and suppliers of electronic systems for the definition, development and deployment of control systems
- Manage single-supply projects with external suppliers and competitors, in particular the FIA standard ECU project, ensuring prioritisation and delivery of hardware and software developments

Compliance auditing:
- Coordinate inspections of competitors' systems and data for compliance with technical and sporting regulations, including chassis and powertrain electronic, electrical and software systems
- Liaise with suppliers of sensors, actuators and electronic units and coordinate the inspection and homologation of components
- Specify tailored embedded and off-car tools to support the auditing activities of the group

Regulations:
- Contribute to regulations and to the vision for future control systems
- Attend working groups on electronic systems

Race and test support:
- Attend Formula One races and tests (expect around 17 events)
- Support the FIA team at the event with the configuration and verification of control systems, electronics systems and FIA monitoring systems
- Analyse car data for compliance with the technical and sporting regulations
- Assist with the inspection of chassis and powertrain systems, including electronic, electrical, control systems, fuel systems, hydraulic systems.

PROFILE :

- Engineering degree or equivalent expert level in Electronics and Control Systems Engineering
- At least 5 years post-graduate experience in motorsport control systems with a strong preference for a direct and recent F1 experience
- Excellent understanding of motorsport control and electronic systems, including chassis and powertrain
- Strong working knowledge of Matlab/Simulink for simulation and inspection of embedded software, data analysis and calibration tools used in Motorsport
- You have demonstrated an ability to learn continuously, work autonomously, and make decisions
- You are comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment with dynamic objectives
- You have demonstrated your ability to work effectively within teams of technical and non-technical individuals
- Highly organised, excellent priority management and strong attention to detail
- Ability to work in the strictest confidence
- Fluent English written and spoken. French optional, willingness to learn the language highly recommended
