Purpose of Role

We are looking for a Software Release Engineer to join our developing Architect team.

Principal Accountabilities

  • You will be an integral part of the Architect team and ultimately responsible for creating and delivering diagnostic packages to the business using our established diagnostic tool.
  • You will manage the delivery of ECU diagnostic data with suppliers and component owners in accordance with McLaren Standards.
  • In conjunction with the Vehicle line integration manager and Module owners you will secure Software delivery plan, and document to ensure delivery to expected platform/program release timing.
  • Author/modify where necessary using CANdela Studio and ODX Studio, diagnostic data, and compile this data to generate and release diagnostic description files (CDD/ODX), and create a diagnostic package per software platform per vehicle program.
  • Manage and track the delivery of ECU diagnostic data (UDS specifications, CDD/ODX, security data, reflash specifications & EOLs specifications etc) by using project tracking tools such as Jira and MANTIS and by liaising with suppliers and component owners to meet platform/program timing.
  • Ensure Diagnostic data is delivered in accordance with the McLaren software acceptance criteria to verify completeness and correctness of data, working alongside suppliers and component owners to guide them through McLaren diagnostic standards.
  • Using the diagnostic platform to create ECU diagnostic data and lead the delivery of diagnostic packages to meet platform/program timing that will be used across Engineering, Manufacturing and Service to satisfy, ECU configuration, ECU reprogramming and end of line sequences.
  • Responsible for the Release of Software during validation phases to vehicle development and validation teams, controlling the release, and ensuring all releases are documented and controlled, and are in accordance with program release timing.
  • Responsible for the Business release of both Software and Diagnostic Package, at the successful conclusion of the validation phase.
  • Point contact for support to Production / Aftersales with regards to EOL / ECU configuration and Reprogramming.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field
  • 3+ years’ experience in automotive diagnostics
  • Good knowledge of automotive diagnostic standards: ISO-14229 (UDS), ISO-15765 (DoCAN), ISO-13400 (DoIP), SAE-J2012 (DTC Definitions), ISO-22901 (ODX)
  • Experience authoring/editing diagnostic description files with CANdela Studio & ODX Studio
  • Familiar with ECU reprogramming and end of line sequences
  • Knowledge of automotive communication protocols, Ethernet CAN, LIN
  • Experience with project/issue tracking tools such a Jira
  • Experience with DTS 8 / 9 Software suite
