CNC Setter Operator

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a CNC Setter Operator to join our Components team at our Northampton site.

Job Description

Duties of the Setter Operator will be to manufacture cylinder heads and blocks as well as a variety of other engine components for super/hyper car manufacturers. Set & operate multiple CNC machines, read and edit programs as required to perform operations. Conduct quality control checks using a variety of measurement equipment. Inspect and maintain machinery, tooling and equipment to ensure parts produced conform to specification and minimize production downtime

The Role:

  • Set and operate CNC machines (Hitachi Seiki and Matsuura)
  • Manufacture/modify engine components to support internal and external engine development
  • Be able to use measuring equipment to ensure components meet customer requirements
  • Perform basic TPM on all equipment including cleaning and lubrication.
  • Mentor and instruct juniors & apprentices to perform manufacturing operations when required.
  • Be committed to continuous improvement and suggest improvements regarding methods, processes, and tooling. Fulfil any other reasonable requirement consistent with departmental objectives.
  • Consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities.
  • Support the Company’s compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, following policy and best practice.

Candidate Profile: 

  • Ability to read, interpret and communicate technical information.
  • Be able to read and understand machine code.
  • Ability to problem solve and see errors in NC code.
  • Have knowledge of multiple machining methods.
  • Be experienced with work holding methods.
  • Have experience with tool setting and tool measuring equipment/pre-setters.
  • Be able to use various measurement equipment to gauge components
  • Numerical and computer skills.
  • Effective communicator both verbal and written.
  • Automotive engineering experience/background.

Week 1 Monday - Thursday: 06:00 - 14:00 Friday: 06:00 - 13:00

Week 2 Monday - Thursday: 14:00 - 22:00 Friday: 13:00 - 20:00
