Assistant Chief Designer

Interacts and communicates with Department Managers as it relates to car design and development, coordinating activities between Aero, Design, Engineering and other functions.  Leads transversal projects and working groups assigned by the Chief Designer.  Involvement on legality matters both on current car and new cars.   Key Responsibilities: Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all staff and departments. Provides leadership and guidance to engineers on assigned projects and working groups. Liaise with reliability group concerning reliability, legality and design revision. Assist Aero and Design Department for the evaluation of different car layout possibilities, also in response to rules changes. Develop test plans on parts to make them “race-ready”. Support various activities due to shifting weekly priorities. Assumes any responsibilities delegated by the Chief Designer or his designee. Designs parts and assemblies for use on the race cars using 3D Modeling Software. Assists with the finite element analysis through the software usage to test parts Follow all safety regulations in all venues.    Education and Work Experience: BS in Mechanical Engineering required.  Typically requires at least 8 years of experience in the F1 industry with diverse design experience, including the hybrid era. Strong aero feedback and F1 rules knowledge required.  3D modelling and FEA experience is also a plus. Supervisory and leadership experience desired.    Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Proficient computer skills, knowledge of 3D modeling software.  Knowledge composite design processes.  Knowledge of materials and properties of materials.  Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to speak strong English and Italian preferably.   Equipment and Applications: Computer, 3D modeling software, Microsoft Excel, mathematics, and basic hand tools.
