Aero Project Engineer

Purpose of the Role:

Responsible for planning and management of internal and external manufacturing resource, and controlling and supporting the supply chain and purchasing process to deliver Aero projects to the wind tunnel. Also responsible for similar processes and procedures relating to Research and Development projects. In addition, will be integral to the development of new tools and processes within the Model Shop.

 

Role Dimensions :

  • Reports to Head of Aero Operations.
  • Involves close cooperation with Model Design, Model Shop, Racing Technology, Planning and Purchasing, external subcontractors and the Manufacturing functions
  • This role is factory based but may involve occasional travel.
  • This role is predominantly carried out during standard working hours but will sometimes include additional hours and weekends.

 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Liaising with the Model Design, Model Shop, Manufacturing functions and Subcon supply chain regarding wind tunnel project planning:
  • Taking ownership of the Production Meeting MSP document and using to run the daily Production Meeting.
  • Planning and delivering wind tunnel programs in line with aero priorities as outlined by Head of, Aero Operations.
  • Delivering projects in a cost effective yet timely manner.
  • Making effective make/buy decisions to deliver cost effective programmes
  • Management and development of Subcontract supply chain.
  • Responsible for various admin tasks in Model Shop:
  • Managing the rota in Production Meeting MSP document.
  • Various admin tasks in Javelin to ensure stock locations are accurate.
  • Chasing of parts from Production and Quality departments into Model Shop.
  • Various other admin tasks as required.
  • Model Manufacturing:
  • Ensuring manufacturing deadlines are respected. Where potential delays are foreseen, working with Aero Ops and Programme Manager to bring projects back on target.
  • Work with Model Design to facilitate Design for Manufacture improvements across delivery system.
  • Liaison with Project management and Purchasing departments:
  • Ensure that Aero are taking advantage of all process and production tool improvements made in Race Car manufacturing.
  • Collaborate to ensure priorities in all shared work centres suit both Aero and Race Car requirements.
  • Development of tools used in all aspects of planning and Modelshop functions,
  • Work with Modelshop Manager and Modelshop Supervisor to develop the next set of tools and processes to plan Modelshop rota, and to manage stock transfers.
  • Work with Aero Ops and Programme manager to develop the next set of tools for planning and delivering of Aero projects.
  • You will build relationships with colleagues across Aero and Production to ensure a joined-up and effective development approach.
