Job Location

  • Munich, Germany.

  • Graz, Austria.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Safety performance deliverables within program development gates.

  • Responsible for developing and ensure the virtual and physical DVP’s are executed.

  • Drive the design by working cross functionally across the organization.

  • Manage multiple resources across the Attributes Safety specialists by leading a safety team through all program phases, setting priorities, and managing workload.

  • Report Vehicle Safety performance status to the DVP as required by management and at program gates reviews.

  • Balance all intended market applicable Safety program requirements (compliance and safety rating) with other performance attributes.

  • Relates to and understands test and simulation results used at all design and development phases.

  • Works cross functionally to root cause any crash performance for high speed, low speed, occupant injuries, restraint, crash sensing, interior head form, vulnerable road user, etc.

  • Work with all various system owners to integrate Vehicle Safety requirements.

  • Communicate issues / enablers to various engineering organizations including leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.  Master of Science or PhD is preferred.

  • 7 to 12 years of experience in automotive engineering at a major OEM or Tier 1 Supplier, with demonstrable experience in managing a program for Vehicle Safety.

  • Fundamental understanding of engineering science as applied to Vehicle Structural Engineering, Occupant Performance, Restraint System Design for reducing injury mechanisms, and Electrical Safety fundamentals.

  • Fundamental understanding of component, sled, pedestrian, and vehicle level crash testing is required.

  • Fundamental understanding of vehicle intended market regulations / protocols and ability to plan strategies and methodologies to ensure the highest safety performance margins / ratings.

  • Extensive knowledge of FMVSS, US-NCAP, IIHS, ECE Regs, EuNCAP, RCAR, CNCAP, C_IASI.

  • Experience understanding simulation models to physical test data and being able to guide design through predictive analysis for all load-cases.

  • Experience working on multiple projects / platforms, optimizing performance metrics to meet program goals.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fundamental understanding and experience using CAE tools such as LS-DYNA, ANSA, PRIMER, ANIMATOR, or HYPERWORKS would be an advantage.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally, as required.

  • Must be willing to work overtime and on weekends where needed to meet deadlines and company goals.

  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs. unassisted, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, walk, and/or run.
