We have a new opportunity to be part of the Electronics team in the role of Sensor Technician.

Purpose

The primary role of the Sensor Technician will be to carry out goods-in & turnaround inspection and calibration checks on the sensors used by the Team, complete build/final assembly of the parts and collate data/generate reports of the tests carried out.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Carry out inspection of parts received from external suppliers to ensure that they meeting the required specification.
  • Verifying the calibration of the sensors matches the data provided by the supplier using the appropriate test equipment/rig.
  • Generating reports to document the test results and confirm that the part is operating to specification/within tolerance.
  • Ensuring that the calibration data for the sensors is correctly entered in the appropriate database.
  • Complete final build/assembly of the parts in line with the production documentation provided.
  • Carrying out final inspection/sign-off testing of parts prior to being released from department.
  • Carry out servicing of parts post use to include cleaning and visual inspection, functional/calibration checks, reporting of any damage/performance degradation and support of any rework/repairs required.
  • Investigation of parts that have been reported as faulty using the appropriate inspection/test equipment.
  • Carrying out line inspection of assemblies in build to ensure that correct processes have been followed and quality levels are maintained.
  • Manufacture of harnesses for test/support instrumentation/equipment and rigs as required.
  • Electronic circuit board and unit assembly for sensor interfacing.
  • Prototyping of new sensor solutions/installations such as strain gauging, etc.
  • Generating necessary sketches/drawings to capture dimensions for new desi
  • Updates to the manufacturing procedures/processes.
  • Support for car build/freight pack up as required.
  • Support for any on car testing and fault finding/investigation as required.
  • Support for installation and commissioning of test rigs.
  • Updated records on the lifing system as parts are manufactured/serviced.
  • General support of production, test and calibration activities with the Electronics dept.

Skills & Knowledge Required

  • A number of years’ experience in sensor/actuator build, test, calibration and servicing.
  • Knowledge of the application/installation of various types of sensors including strain gauges.
  • Experience of motorsport wiring harness manufacture.
  • Previous experience in a similar role ideally in a motorsport, automotive or aerospace environment.
  • Experience of assembly/rework of electrical components such as test equipment, rigs, panels, motors, etc.
  • Experience of circuit board assembly with surface mount components.
  • Be proficient in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, drawing, etc PC software packages.
  • Ability to calmly and confidently work under pressure to achieve targets and deliver results within required timescales

Location

The role will be based at the Silverstone Factory. There will be a requirement to travel as required.
