How to write a CV for a career in motorsport

NEED TO WRITE A CV for a career in motorsport BUT DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START?

We're here to help.

What is a CV?

Your CV (also known as Curriculum Vitae), or Résumé, is a document that showcases your skills, qualifications, work experience and shows hiring managers why you're a good candidate for the role they are recruitng for.

With so many formats available and so much information required, it is sometimes hard to know where to start, what to include, and how to set the document out.

Although there is no official way to write a CV, there are best practises to follow and hiring managers expect a certain amount of key information to be included.

To help simplify the process, we have made a simple, free of charge, online CV builder. This allows you to quickly input your information into Motorsport Jobs, and our system then sorts and formats everything, giving you a CV you can download as a PDF and send on, or use to apply directly to jobs you find advertised on our website.

What is a personal statement?

What is a personal statement?

Your personal statement is a short paragraph that sits at the top of your CV, below your name and contact details.

Also known as an 'about me section', this can be one of the trickiest parts to write and many job seekers get it wrong.

Thankfully, we have some top tips to assist you in getting this important stage right.

Firstly, try and break it down into three parts:

  1. About you/who you are
  2. Why you are right for the role and what value you can add to the company
  3. Your ambitions and career goals
