For many fans of Formula One, the sport exists between lights and chequered flag on a Sunday afternoon. It begins and ends with the exploits of the drivers on the track. But this is merely the tip of the spear. The reality of modern F1 is that of a complex and intertwined operation, every part of which needs to perform near its limit if success is to be achieved. From the pit crew searching for the ultimate repeatable pit stop, to the inspiration of the designers, the application of engineers and the herculean efforts of an army of fabricators and machinists. Much of our success is thanks to the diversity of thought and spectrum of skill sets held within the team, our ability to recognise unique contributions from individual team members is just a part of why we love what we do.
Job Description
We are looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team and provide positive, proactive and collaborative Quality Engineering support to the development of the first Red Bull Power Unit.
You’ll build solid working relationships with our suppliers, promote a quality assurance approach using necessary tools, and support and challenge key suppliers to continuously improve their quality performance and technical capabilities.
Your responsibilities:
- Deliver quality assurance strategies for the external supply chain, as agreed with department leadership.
- Analyse, report, and monitor performance metrics for supplier quality, using statistical process control techniques where required.
- Investigate and resolve supplier issues detected by Red Bull, ensuring effective resolution through robust problem-solving techniques.
- Plan, conduct, and report on supplier audits to evaluate and mitigate perceived supplier risks and support supplier improvement activities for concessions.
- Collaborate with procurement and suppliers to resolve non-conformance, perform risk reduction activities, and complete improvement projects using a data-driven approach.
- Support design for manufacture/inspection by collaborating with suppliers, procurement, and design teams to ensure achievable design outputs and proven measurement system capabilities.
Your essentials:
The ideal candidate must have experience in a similar role, in a manufacturing environment with solid mechanical background. We’re looking for a proven track record in implementing and utilising preventative quality tools, including Design for Manufacture (DFM), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Control Plans. In-depth experience with problem-solving tools such as 8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa or Is-Is Not is essential. Additionally, an understanding and appreciation of metrology principles and measurement techniques and equipment is important.
Who you are:
The ideal candidate for this role will be self-motivated and personable, demonstrating exceptional communication skills with the ability to use diplomacy and tact at all levels, both internally and externally. They should possess the capability to influence others effectively and thrive as a cohesive and harmonious team player. Upholding the Red Bull Technology Group's behavioural competencies—Care, Drive, Grit, Inventiveness, and Positivity—is crucial. The candidate will work as part of a unified team, developing strong working relationships with key internal departments and suppliers. They must also be able to communicate effectively at all levels across the business to ensure that all stakeholders are consistently informed.
Not only is this fantastic Supplier Quality Engineer position, but it is also a fantastic team to work with here at Red Bull Powertrains. A good salary is just the start, there are many other benefits too such as our bonus scheme, private health care cover, life assurance scheme, workplace nursery scheme, company contributed pension scheme, on site gym & fitness classes, free daily food allowance, and a cycle to work scheme; but above all, the job satisfaction doesn’t get any better than the feeling of making a real contribution to our championship winning grand prix cars.
