Workshop and Assembly Technician

KW Special Projects Ltd requires a multi-skilled experienced workshop technician to work with the engineering team in this ambitious and growing high performance engineering business. We are looking for someone with a “can do” attitude and strong lateral thinking skills who can run the workshop day to day getting involved in the assembly of a wide range of projects.

About the role

You will run the workshop’s day to day activities.

We work on a diverse range of projects in many sectors– from motorsport to special purpose machine building. The main focus of this role would be to oversee the assembly and upkeep of our car build programme however we develop a range of R&D prototypes for a host of engineering customers and the successful candidate would be involved in the assembly of these prototypes.

The successful candidate will be able to communicate effectively with engineers and suppliers and have an excellent set of practical skills and experience in this field. A background (+ 5 years) in one of the following sectors is required - motorsport, automotive, prototype development, military R&D technician and R&D technicians.

Specifically, the role will involve;

  • Managing and conducting all workshop build activates
  • Mechanical build and assembly for various projects
  • Experience with composite and advanced engineering materials (hands on manufacturing processes)
  • Ability to interrogate engineering drawings
  • Communication with engineering team on daily basis
  • Implementing and improving best practice processes
  • Exceptional attention to detail – projects are subject to arenas with the highest scrutiny
  • Ability to coach apprentices and junior engineers in terms of workshop practice/processes
  • Overseeing the management of the stores
  • Stock control of materials
  • Ownership of health and Safety in the workshop
  • Electrical build experience desirable
