WORK EXPERIENCE - ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

Scope

Our Work Experience programme aims to provide 14-19 year olds with the opportunity to experience the workplace for one week and explore future career options, enabling the student to develop both personally and professionally.

Key Responsibilities

The placement will be to join the Electrical Engineering department for one week to learn about why this is an integral function to the business and what type of skills you need to follow a career in Engineering. The department are responsible for designing and developing new electrical equipment, solving problems and testing equipment.

The week long placement will comprise of:

 •          Writing up test reports

•           Drafting PowerPoint presentation

•           Workshop requests

 

•           Software validation

•           Acronym definition

 

•           Microsoft project plans

 

•           Project book maintenance

 

•           Technical admin shadowing

 

If successful the dress code will be smart business attire and student should supply their own safety boots.

The working hours for this placement are 8am until 5pm Monday - Thursday, and 8am until 12pm Friday. Successful candidates are expected to make their own way to work everyday and remain punctual throughout the week.

We want you to get the most out of your time at Bentley and when you start you will sit down with your placement manager and discuss your placement objectives - both business and personal. These can then be measured throughout the week, and discussed at your end of placement review.

Qualifications

Applicants must be currently studying towards their GCSE’s or A Level’s/equivalent and must have obtained/be on track for at least A* - C grades/equivalent in all core subjects at GCSE level (Maths, Science, English).

Previous Experience

We understand that you may have limited work experience, but you should be mature, professional and eager to learn. Quality in our business is top priority and we need individuals who can demonstrate a high focus on quality and a right first time attitude.

This is unpaid one week placement at our main site in Crewe.
