Wind Tunnel Engineer

The position:

We are looking to recruit a Wind Tunnel Engineer to assist in the running of the Wind Tunnel.

The role:

This varied role will assist the team to carry out vital Aerodynamic Wind Tunnel Tests in an effective and efficient manner. Day to day tasks will include but not limited to:

Run the Wind Tunnel following test lists provided by the Duty Aerodynamicist and maintain records of activities.
Liaise with the modelmakers to update on model changes.
Act as the first port of call for any facility issues.
Work within a shift rota alongside the rest of the team.
Ensure Wind Tunnel downtime is kept to a minimum – excellent communication must be maintained at all times.
Generate and communicate ideas for improvements to the facility
Ensure a high standard of personal and department presentation is maintained as appropriate for a showcase facility visited by potential sponsors and other VIPs.
Follow the company’s Health and Safety policy protecting both the people and the facility from unnecessary risks and damage.

Core competencies:

Ensure tests are carried out to the highest standard, providing quality data in the most efficient and effect manner with support to the Duty Aero and with due regard for the facility equipment and systems.

Core Skills:

The candidate will be capable of gaining a good working knowledge of the facility, it’s systems and processes and an understanding of what is important for aerodynamic development. The candidate will also have good core interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively both alone and within a team.

Prior wind tunnel testing experience, preferably in a motorsport environment.
An appreciation of electro-mechanical systems and assemblies

Shifts patterns:

Shift patterns operate on a 3 week rota – Monday to Friday

Week 1 – 06:00 – 15:00
Week 2 - 15:00 – 24:00
Week 3 – 08:30 – 17:30
