Working as part of the Wind Tunnel Operations group, you will undertake a range of projects and activities to support and enhance the wind tunnel testing process.
The requirements of the role are to help the group achieve the following …
- Support routine operation of WT testing
- Develop Wind tunnel analysis tools and test methods.
- Develop Wind Tunnel testing technology, processes and procedures.
- Support and develop PIV measurement and its incorporation into the aero design process
- Work with sensitive instrumentation to ensure accuracy and repeatability of results.
- Use and evolve R&D test equipment, making use of the latest technologies; analyse output data and report findings.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate knowledge of the theoretical and practical workings of a modern automotive wind tunnel.
They must possess a working knowledge of control systems and wind tunnel instrumentation, and have an in-depth understanding of the physics and mechanics of the unit under test.
Strong mathematics, physics and IT skills are essential, and experience of Pi Diablo, Matlab / Simulink, SQL and Catia would be an advantage.
As the group supports a 24 hour wind tunnel test program, the role demands a flexible approach to working hours including weekends.
