Racing/Speed Shop Production assistant (welding & light fabrication)
Racing Beat specializes in the engineering and manufacturing of racing and streetable performance parts for a wide variety of Mazda automobiles, including the RX-7, RX-8, Protege, CX-5, Mazda 6, Mazda 5, Mazda 3, and Mazda 2
This position offers an hourly pay scale ranging from $15.00 - $$$$$, depending upon demonstrated abilities and previous employment experience. Upon successful completion of the two (2) month probationary period, health and dental benefits for the employee are available. After 1 year of being at Racing Beat, employees will also qualify for paid vacation. The normal hours of employment are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm (full time position)
Qualified applicants will be able to demonstrate proficiency with MIG (wire feed) welding equipment. The successful applicants will be able to weld a variety of mild steel and stainless steel components of varying wall thicknesses. Other tasks also include but not limited to building of oil lines, modifying carburetors, and building of spark plug wires. The ability to operate shop equipment such as a mill, drill press, vertical band saw and cold saw is a HUGE plus. Applicants must also possess the ability to speak, read and write English.
Applications are accepted only during the hours of 9:00am -4:00pm Monday through Friday. At the time of application, the applicant is required to bring satisfactory welding gloves and a welding helmet.
At the time of application, both a welding test and an applicant exam are given. The purpose of the applicant exam is to determine the applicant's ability to read, write, and perform math calculations at approximately the eighth grade level. Allow approximately 15-20 minutes to complete the employment application and applicant exam.
