Warehouse Manager – Competitive Salary – Fontwell, West Sussex

(Position will be named 'Stores Team Leader'

The Role

We are looking for a Warehouse Manager to be responsible for the day-to-day running of the stores facility. Reporting directly to the Procurement Manager, the position involves a significant amount of planning, coordination and thorough housekeeping. The role requires a self-starter who can work independently in a fast-paced high-intensity work environment; the ability to keep motivated whilst also motivating others is key. Some of the key responsibilities of a Warehouse Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing a team across various shift patterns to support the day to day running of GTR.
  • To participate in the maintenance of an effective, optimal and safe stores management system and organisation
  • Oversees and manage store staff, including recognising new training opportunities, providing feedback, and developing staff members
  • Maintain inventory integrity within our system by making sure all inventory transactions are accounted for in the database.
  • Manage the despatch and logistics functions pertaining to the business requirements of GTR
  • Manage all products for despatch or storage, packaging using GTR or customer standards as applicable
  • Manage all necessary despatch paperwork as required in accordance with company procedures, including despatch notes and third-party courier waybills
  • Liaise with Project Managers and other internal contacts to establish despatch / collection requirements
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers and transport companies
  • Organise local and national delivery driver routes and schedules in accordance with daily requirements, including GTR employed drivers and third-party couriers or contractors as necessary
  • Manage the maintenance and upkeep of company vehicles in accordance with GTR and legal requirements
  • Managing min/max stock levels and placing purchase orders on the ERP system with external suppliers
  • Identify and improve processes to increase efficiency and minimize mistakes.

The Person

The key requirements and qualities of a Warehouse Manager:

  • Assist in essential business changes to maintain growth requirements
  • Lead in change management to stores processes to create efficiencies across the business
  • Experience in a stores/warehouse environment and experience in operating a computerised stores management system preferred
  • Fork Lift driving license preferred but not essential
  • Full driving license
  • IT skills (MS Excel essential, need to be completely comfortable with Web-based applications, ERP and barcode system experience would also be an advantage, Email essential)
  • An ability to work in a logical and structured manner, keeping excellent records and a disciplined approach to data management and filing
  • Participate in stock counts and reconciliation against ERP inventory
  • Deliver materials/equipment/items to shop floor/work areas as required
  • Apply company rules, respect and apply safety regulations

Core hours are 8am to 4:30pm, but require flexibility to adapt working hours to the needs of the business
