Vertical CNC Setter / Operator

AEM Products Ltd is a small, high quality sub-contract precision engineering company based in Rushden. The company provides specialist machining services to the F1 Motorsport Industry.

AEM Products Ltd manufactures complex 3D machined components in small batch quantities of between 1 off and 20 off dependent on customer requirements. A variety of materials are used including various grades of aluminium alloys, high performance plastics, CFRP and rigid foams. Parts are programmed using solid model CAD data with the machine code being output directly to CNC machining centres.

Department: Machine Shop
Hours of Work: Minimum 40 hours per week between the hours of 8.30am - 5.00pm Monday – Friday
Hours will be increased in busier periods as work schedules require. This will be paid at an overtime rate of 1.5 times the hourly rate.
Reporting to: Workshop Manager – Tim Parker, Operations Manager – Danielle Robinson

Responsibilities

  • Setting and Operating CNC controlled vertical machining centres for the production of small batches of precision parts.
  • Read, understand and be able to work from drawings.
  • Carry out routine checks and basic machine maintenance (i.e. cleaning, filling with oil etc.)
  • Consulting with quality assurance and inspecting own work
  • Maintain a clean and safe working area, compliant with health and safety.

Skills & Attributes Required

  • AEM Products Ltd are seeking a Vertical CNC machinist with experience in a precision engineering environment. Applicants must have a good understanding of quality requirements and the ability to interpret drawings and tolerance specifications. Previous CAD experience is advantageous.
  • The successful candidate will have good computer skills together with a positive attitude and strong work ethic. Applicants must be personable and able to work as part of a team, sharing their experience and knowledge with other machine shop staff.
  • Previous experience working to tight tolerances and the ability to produce high quality work in high pressure circumstances is essential.
