Vehicle Test Engineer

As a Vehicle Test Engineer, you’ll be working with some of the industry’s brightest engineers to plan, organize and execute vehicle level tests prescribed per Vehicle Level DVP Test Plans. As a testing subject matter expert you will manage and execute vehicle level tests with high levels of complexity and inter dependencies under minimal supervision. You will need to communicate openly with all stakeholders with integrity and accuracy.

  • Execute vehicle level Test Plans.
  • Own the processes leading up to the test, during, and after the test including test reporting with, where needed, detailed observations and recommendations for corrective action.
  • Generate TIRs (Test Incident Report) in JIRA based databases.
  • Particpate in Triage process to disposition TIRs in JIRA with Domain DREs
  • Support DREs in design, development, and validation of countermeasures for failures that occur during testing
  • Issue and document test reports in JAMA database.
  • Be the subject matter expert in the prescribed area of testing.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Computer / Mechanical / Systems Engineering, or a related field of study
  • Minimum of 2-years of experience in automotive product development & manufacturing, or test & valiation and homologation.
  • Proven knowledge + expertise, and passion for quality excecution of engineering test projects of various types and scopes – from Vehicle level to Sub-system and Component levels
  • Knowledge of Test procedures, test plans, statement-of-work, and creating test reports
  • Good communication and time management skills
  • Strong familiarity with MS-Office environment including; MS-Project,Excel, Word and MS-PowerPoint. Experience with CATIA is a plus
  • Must enjoy interacting with multiple cross-functional areas to solicit information and form consensus.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge and hands-on experience with

  • Installation, calibration and inspection of; load cells, pressure transducers, thermocouples, strain gages and associated cabling. Installation of accelerometers and data acquisition.
  • Data Acquisition and analysis using; Somat eDAQ, VBOX and various similar data acquisition systems
  • Quality Control Inspection, coordinating Calibration and maintenance of instrumentation; scrapped asset management, and other similar administrative tasks
  • Troubleshooting and repair of instrumentation systems both in the shop and in the field.
  • Inspection of data output to confirm its meeting expectation. Creation and verification of data collection setup, calibration documents,
  • Installation and pre-test output verification of sensors and other test devices
