VEHICLE PERFORMANCE ENGINEER – SIMULATOR TEAM

An exciting opportunity exists for a Vehicle Performance Engineer to join the Simulator Team, within our Vehicle Performance Group (VPG).

Reporting to the Simulator Development Lead, the role will primarily be focused on the development of the Team’s Simulator capability. Involvement in other areas of VPG work may occasionally be required. The position will involve close cooperation with Software, Controls, Race Engineering and Aerodynamics departments, as well as the Model Development and Vehicle Dynamics Teams within VPG.

Required skills, qualifications & experience:

  • Excellent degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science or a related discipline.
  • Strong problem solving, mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively either within a cross-functional team or with minimal supervision.
  • Capacity to report complex technical information concisely and professionally to tight deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle dynamics principles and concepts.
  • Solid understanding of numerical methods, statistics and control theory.
  • Modelling experience of mechanical/hydraulic/thermal/electrical systems for dynamic simulations.
  • Extensive coding experience in MATLAB/Simulink and C/C++.
     
    Any of the following skills, qualifications & experience would be relevant, but are not essential:
  • Qualification to postgraduate Masters or doctoral level.
  • Simulator systems and operations.
  • Simulator track development (LiDAR data processing & graphics).
  • Motion cueing algorithms
  • Development & use of tyre models.
  • Projection hardware & software.
  • Model correlation techniques.
  • Race / performance engineering experience, including driver interaction.
  • .NET C#, Python, VBA or other programming languages.
  • RealTime systems & computer science considerations.
  • CAN bus and Ethernet-based communication protocols in a HIL application.
  • SystemMonitor / TAG SECU.
  • ATLAS.
  • SIMPACK.
  • JIRA, Git, Bitbucket.
  • Previous experience in high level motorsport.
