Duties / Responsibilities

The future:

We offer the opportunity to work in the vibrant Lotus Engineering centre alongside some of the industry’s best Technicians and Engineers. You will get the opportunity to support prototype builds and engineered solutions in world class facilities on iconic products. You will be provided with a full training programme and will be assigned a personal mentor who will support you throughout.

Role purpose:

To gain experience within the Lotus Sports Car Engineering function groups supporting technicians in vehicle workshops and engineers for current products within the Vehicle Engineering Test & Development department.

The role:

At Lotus Cars we offer a Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship of up-to 42 months which will tap into your passion and determination to learn, develop while, giving you opportunity to support the development of our iconic brand and world renowned story.

You will be involved in scopes supporting development of innovative engineering solutions that can go from concept to production, working with some of the best in the business.

You will take a role in our Vehicle Workshop Team, using and developing your engineering first principles to help overcome challenges across the department on a variety of projects. As your experience and skills develop, increasing exposure to the bench marking, test & development and driving dynamics scopes performed in the vehicle engineering group will be given.

As a team we pride ourselves on challenging apprentices by providing interaction with the other function groups within our High-Performance Sports Car Engineering departments.

Qualifications and Experience

Essentials:

  • A strong academic background in relevant GCSE, or equivalent qualifications, particularly Maths or Sciences
  • Basic CAD/Simulation skills with an appreciation of engineering design process.
  • The courage to challenge and desire to be challenged, to expand your technical knowledge and skill
  • Understanding engineering principles
  • Excellent communication skills

Desirable:

  • Previous study in Engineering / Automotive / Mechatronics / Motorsport / Aeronautical or related subject
