Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Vehicle Dynamics and Analysis Engineer to be a part of our highly skilled Vehicle Performance Group, focusing on the development of our multi-championship winning Formula One cars. Our open and dynamic environment ensures that everyone can make a valuable contribution to increasing our F1 cars’ performance. We are looking for talented Engineers with proven experience, a strong academic background and excellent Vehicle Dynamics knowledge to join us and ensure our future success at the track.
Working from our Milton Keynes factory, you will be involved in the complete development cycle of the car from initial suspension concepts, vehicle dynamic behaviour correlation, setup and performance optimisation as well as analysing car data from our Operations Room during Race and Test events.
The role will include regular communication with other departments including the Race Team, Aero Performance Group, Design Office and Car Build. Occasional travel to events may be required.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing suspension kinematics and optimising vehicle ride and handling behaviour.
- Analysing vehicle and rig data to improve suspension performance.
- Creating and developing unique suspension concepts to enhance car performance.
- Implementing and developing new tools, methods and procedures to enhance our analysis and understanding of car performance.
- Performing pre-event simulations aimed at optimising ride and handling performance.
- Providing predictive performance metrics for Race and Test events, and developing simulation models at both component and vehicle levels.
Key competencies of the successful candidate include:
- A master’s degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or Physics.
- A strong academic background, with excellent capabilities in dynamics and vibrations, mechanics and applied mathematics.
- An excellent knowledge of vehicle dynamics principles is essential.
- A strong working knowledge of Matlab/Simulink, Python and Dymola would be advantageous.
- Good communication, teamwork and time-management skills.
- While not essential, previous experience in a similar role in Motorsport will be beneficial.
