Vehicle Design Student Placement

Red Bull Technology is inviting candidates to apply for Industrial Placement positions within its F1 Vehicle Design Department.

We have opportunities within the following Vehicle Design teams:

  • Composite Design
  • Mechanical Design
  • Structural Analysis

Candidates wishing to apply for these roles should be studying towards an Engineering Degree. You must be computer literate, but with experience in carrying out hands-on tasks.

The Design Roles

The key accountabilities for the Design roles are:-

  • Designing and draughting of vehicle components or garage equipment
  • Design and draughting of any tooling needed to manufacture your car components
  • Developing proficiency in specialist areas of fault diagnosis, stress analysis, cad design, cad draughting
  • The preparation of technical documentation to support your designs
  • Developing problem solving and communication skills through working closely with designers, managers, mechanics and technical specialists from throughout the organisation
  • Following best practice as defined by the department for all activities

The successful applicants will demonstrate

  • A good understanding of a 3D CAD system
  • An understanding of Mechanical principles
  • A good hands-on approach
  • An understanding of Structural analysis techniques
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software

The Structures Analysis Role

The key accountabilities for the Structural Analysis role are:

  • Preliminary structural analysis of vehicle components or garage equipment, supporting experienced engineers in the team
  • Using classical mechanical theory and calculations to validate designs
  • The development of mathematical models for predicting the behaviour of specific elements of mechanical designs
  • The preparation of stress analysis summary reports, and other technical documentation as may be required
  • Gaining experience in specialist areas of fault diagnosis, data analysis, cad design
  • Developing problem solving and communication skills through working closely with designers, managers and technicians from throughout the organisation
  • Following best practice as defined by the department for all activities

Candidates wishing to apply for the Structural Analysis role should be able to demonstrate:

  • A good understanding of a Finite Element Analysis software
  • A thorough understanding of Structural Analysis principles and techniques
  • An understanding of Mechanical principles
  • A good academic record in the appropriate subjects
  • A good hands-on approach
  • An ability to use Microsoft Excel software

The placements will be for 1 year, starting in Summer 2020.
