Your responsibilities

Summary:

The Validation Engineer is responsible for managing the entire design validation process to ensure it supports all internal and external customer needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the same
  • Creates and maintains project-specific Design Validation Plan & Report (DVP&R) in cooperation with the Product Engineer
  • Identifies and tracks the standard tests that are required to support a DVP&R
  • Generates test plans, procedures, and work instructions from customer requirements
  • Develops guidelines for new project-specific test procedures as needed in cooperation with Senior Test Engineer & Test Engineer
  • Interfaces with Test Engineer to coordinate availability of test equipment that are required for newly developed tests
  • Evaluates test results and determines compliance to DVP&R requirements in cooperation with the Product Engineer and Program Manager
  • Tracks and maintains ongoing testing for assigned projects
  • Writes up technical test reports and presents results to key Project Teams and directly to the customer
  • Performs product testing on an as needed basis as defined by the Senior Test Engineer.
  • Participates in customer discussions regarding testing topics and assists the Senior Test Engineer with customer proposals

  • Experience in signal processing software a plus (LMS TestExpress, Dewesoft X, Dewetron Oxygen, LabVIEW,)
  • Experience in MTS Systems’ software packages a plus (MPT/793, RPC, Damper, and Basic TestWare)

Your profile

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Previous experience in product testing or quality preferred with demonstrated familiarity with evaluation tools and statistical software such as Minitab, Infinity or equivalent systems, Matlab
  • Experience with coordination and presentation of technical data and information to key component suppliers & customers
  • Understanding of material properties & characteristics of critically used materials such as steel, aluminium, sintered metals, rubber and plastic components, and various coatings
  • Thorough knowledge of standard business software products (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Windows XP etc.)
  • Position must be able to work required overtime that can be substantial during peak customer production periods
  • Ongoing commitment to advance knowledge in the field shock absorber, testing, and standards compliance
  • Demonstrated reliability, good initiative, committed, and quality focused
  • Proven ability to effectively present information in one-on-one & small group situations to Customers, clients, & others
  • Proven ability to read and interpret customer specifications and industry standards.
  • Proven track record of customer interface and ability to manage multiple projects and programs in a fast paced environment
  • Strong project management skills with proven ability to plan, monitor, and control a project from start to finish ensuring everyone meets their deadlines
  • Highly organized with ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Exhibits integrity through fair and ethical behaviors in all activities; maintains accountability for performance
  • Strong attention to detail with well-developed organizational and communication skills.
  • Proven experience developing work processes to improve outcomes for the team/customers
  • 15% Travel

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering Discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, or Physics desired)
