Position Title: IndyCar Transport Driver (full time)

Position Reports To: Team Manager

Basic Function: Loads, unloads, and operates tractor trailer vehicles to and from events and maintains aesthetics of the trucks, race site and truck bay.

Basic Responsibilities:

1. Safely operates tractor-trailer truck to and from events within weight laws and following all DOT safety regulations.

2. Maintains a professional, neat appearance of trucks, race site, pits and truck bay according to established standard of expectation at all times.

3. Makes sure all equipment is functioning including truck and support equipment. a. Handles minor repairs or posts to repair log. b. Maintains repair/replacement log and makes sure that Transportation Manager receives the log upon returning from each event.

4. Uses established checklists to make sure that items are loaded on the truck and that equipment and supplies are maintained at the established par.

5. Complete set up and maintenance of equipment at the track as follows: a. Line up the trucks as required b. Set up the tent c. Unload all items necessary for race & test execution d. Set up support equipment under tent or garage e. Set up toolboxes f. Make sure tires/wheels are taken to the Firestone site and perform maintenance on them during the event g. Set up pits to established specifications with support equipment h. Hook up hoses and regulators i. Set up the nitrogen bottles j. Set up trailer for food truck k. Clean and stock bathrooms l. Empty trash from trucks, garages and pits

6. Assist mechanics during race event to obtain parts, etc.
7. Maintains driver logs according to DOT regulations.
8. Participates in regulated DOT drug and alcohol testing as requested by management.
9. Safekeeping and proper use of all company property issued during employment, including uniforms, tools, toolboxes, electronic devices, credit cards and any other productivity tools.
10. Professionally represent the team and its sponsors on and off premises. Treating sponsors and their guests with respect by acknowledging them and appropriately answering their questions during shop, pit and garage tours.

11. Keeping work area clean and organized at all times.

12. Provide assistance to other team members on other duties as appropriate.

Skills Required:

  • Class A CDL, Hazardous Materials endorsement preferred.
  • 2-3 years over the road experience driving tractor trailers.
  • Demonstrate an ability to operate 18 gear transmissions.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills.
  • Intimate knowledge of DOT regulations and how to apply them in a work environment.
  • Mechanical skills and ability to perform basic maintenance on tractor trailers.
  • Proficient at reading and interpreting maps to deliver product on time and efficiently.
  • Manual experience using hand tools.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and consistently lift heavy equipment in excess of 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to sleep while another team member is driving.
  • Work environment contains hazardous chemicals and fumes. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of emergency safety procedures and an ability to use safety equipment correctly.
