TRAINEE, TRANSPORT (2YR FTC)

Purpose of the Role:

 

As a support trainee, you will operate within the Transport Department and Internal Logistics Operation. Your main responsibility will be ensuring the smooth transfer of parts, equipment, and raw materials, on time and in full, between all satellite locations of McLaren Racing and suppliers within proximity to The McLaren Technology Centre for a 2-year initial contract and a possibility to go permanent after.

Role Dimensions:

 

Entry Level role to the Transport and Logistical operations of F1. You will collaborate closely with the Transport management team and Internal Logistics team in providing a service to all satellite locations and Suppliers of McLaren Racing within the locality of the McLaren Technology Centre. You will be required to book out and book in parts across all sites and be expected to load and operate the transfer vehicles to a high standard. Whilst always maintaining a professional and courteous manner.

 

Principal Accountabilities:

 

  • Van driving
  • Ensuring the allocated vehicle is kept tidy and in a safe, legal condition, whilst operated in an economical manner.
  • Always show Adherence to the highway code and traffic laws.
  • Ensuring daily defect checks are executed and submitted at the start of every driving shift.
  • Collaboration with the Internal Logistics team
  • To highlight and effectively communicate any related issues with the use of the McLaren specific systems along with any computer associated or related equipment directly to your Team Leader / Manager.
  • Need to ensure that all equipment within the department that you are working in has been correctly located and safely stowed at each satellite location or onboard transfer vehicle
  • To identify and clearly communicate to Team Leader any parts, raw material or equipment that has been severely “Damaged” or has major parts “Missing” found during the loading / unloading process which require an NCR to be raised.
  • As and when required, assist in the unloading and loading of vehicles
  • To protect the company’s assets, accept liability and responsibility for the equipment and goods in your charge by double-checking against paperwork ensuring safe and secure carriage, loading and unloading

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

 

  • Valid UK Driving licence with van entitlement up to 3.5T (Long Wheel Based Sprinter) Category B
  • High Computer literacy.
  • Geographical knowledge of the UK road network.
  • Counterbalance lift truck operator preferred
