We are a successful and expanding Sub-Contract engineering company in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire; supplying high quality components to a wide range of industries including aerospace, medical and motorsport.

Due to the expansion of our Grinding Department we are seeking a Trainee Grinder to join our busy and expanding engineering team on a permanent basis.

Duties will include

  • Learning how to set and operate Cylindrical, Centreless and Surface Grinders ready for use, alongside other machines and equipment in our busy Grinding Department.
  • Receiving hands-on training and gaining experience under guidance and supervision from skilled colleagues.
  • Gaining experience and knowledge of grinding parts to tight tolerances and using various types of measuring equipment including laser measurement.
  • Learning how to check parts against technical drawings and related documents.
  • Keeping work areas tidy and maintaining paperwork / traceability at all times in relation to our ISO 9001:2015 Quality policy.

Desirable experience / skills

  • No experience is necessary; however, some engineering experience would be an advantage;
  • A good mathematical mind would be beneficial.
  • Able to demonstrate you have a technical mind and would be able to understand technical drawings and related paperwork with the appropriate training.
  • Computer / IT skills.

Personal qualities

  • An enthusiastic approach and a desire to learn more about engineering and the manufacture of precision parts.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fast learner.
  • Team player

Monday to Thursday 7:30am to 4:00pm & Friday 7:30am to 1:00pm.

Competitive salary (depending on experience) + Overtime (at time and a half).
